Julee Pinel
General Psychologist & Registered Nurse (Mental Health)
About Julee
Four Decades of Wisdom, Warmth, and Transformative Therapeutic Work
Julee Pinel is one of the most experienced clinicians on the Sunshine Coast, bringing over 40 years of clinical practice to her work with adults and older adults at the Sippy Downs clinic. Julee holds dual AHPRA registration — as both a General Psychologist and a Registered Nurse (Mental Health) — a rare combination that gives her an exceptionally broad clinical foundation spanning acute mental health, community care, and private practice psychology. Her career has encompassed private practice, community mental health, and hospital-based care — giving her an unusually rich and nuanced understanding of the full spectrum of human psychological experience.
Julee holds dual AHPRA registrations in psychology and mental health nursing, and her breadth of clinical expertise is reflected in the extraordinary range of presentations she works with. Her primary areas of focus are neurodiversity — including Autism (ASD) and ADHD across the adult lifespan — and complex trauma and PTSD, for which she is an EMDRAA Accredited Practitioner in EMDR therapy. She also works across anxiety, depression, eating disorders, grief, and the challenges of later life. She is a published author and podcast host — having written A Practical Guide to Therapy: Making the Most of Your Mental Health and Personal Growth and its companion workbook Therapy Journal: Walking Towards Mental Health, and hosted a psychology and relationships podcast. Both reflect her deep commitment to making psychological wisdom accessible to the broader community. Her books are available through her website at www.juleepinel.com or directly from the clinic.
Julee is highly regarded within the Sunshine Coast community — a testament to the profound impact she has on the people she works with and to the trust built over four decades of practice. Clients who are specifically seeking Julee's expertise are encouraged to contact the admin team to enquire about availability.

Julee's Approach to Care
After 40 years, I am still moved by the courage it takes to sit in a therapist's chair and say 'I need help'. That courage deserves to be met with the very best I have to offer.
Julee's longevity in clinical practice is not simply a matter of years — it is a reflection of her genuine love for the work and her unwavering commitment to the people she serves. She brings a quality of presence to the therapy room that her clients describe as rare: a sense of being truly met, truly understood, and truly cared for.
Her published work and podcast reflect a belief that psychological wisdom should not be confined to the therapy room. By writing and speaking publicly about relationships, mental health, and the human experience, Julee has extended her reach far beyond her individual caseload — contributing to the mental health literacy of the broader community.
As a senior clinician, Julee also plays an important mentoring role within the clinic — sharing her decades of experience with newer clinicians and contributing to the culture of excellence and compassion that defines the Sunshine Coast Psychology Clinic.
