What is Depression?

More Than Just a Low Mood

Depression (Major Depressive Disorder) is a common but serious mood disorder that affects how you feel, think, and handle daily activities. Unlike temporary sadness, depression is persistent, lasting for at least two weeks, and represents a significant change from your previous level of functioning. It can make it difficult to work, study, sleep, eat, and enjoy life.

It's a genuine health condition, not a weakness or something you can simply "snap out of." With professional, evidence-based therapy, you can manage your symptoms and work towards lasting recovery.
